DOM ALAIN VOGE CORNAS LES CHAILLES 2020 750 mL

Alain Voge and his wife Elaine have been estate-bottling Cornas since the mid-1950s. As the fourth generation of the Voge family tomake wine in Cornas, Alain inherited his domaine from his father at a time when it was hardly worthwhile to harvest the gra pes.

Today their seven hectares, out of a total of only 90 hectares currently under cultivation in Cornas, represents a total production of barely 2,000 cases. Almost all of the vines at Domaine Voge are 50+ years old, meaning that virtually al l of Voge’s production is labelled Vieilles Vignes. Les Chailles comes from parcels of Syrah grapes, with an average of 30 years old, on granitic terraces bordering a calcareous hill. This proximity gave particular siliceous concretions called ‘Les Chaill es’ and a very particular taste to the wine. Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats. The grapes are partly destemmed and after a 4 weeks of maceration with daily pigeage and pump over, the wine is aged for 16 months in casks.
