The idea for Reingin was developed by Tim Lamm and Johannes Weigl in front of Duesseldorf’s castle tower, which is why the gin’s bottles bear the coordinates of this location. The two founders, who had the vision of creating a pure gin inspired by the Rhine, also contributed to the name. This German gin was launched on the market in 2017 by the Duesseldorf-based company WeiLa and is produced by the traditional Bovenkerck distillery in Hamminkeln, Wesel district, which has been known for its high-quality spirits since 1750.
In recognition of the city of Vienna, a special edition of r[h]eingin was designed in cooperation with the artist Jacques Tilly. The edition is characterized by illustrations of important Viennese buildings, including the Vienna State Opera, the Prater, Belvedere Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg, the Danube Tower and City Hall. Each bottle is labeled by hand and given an individual number.
Unlike many other gins, which consist of a variety of botanicals, this handcrafted dry gin is made exclusively from different types of juniper berries and a multi-filtered, malt-rich alcohol.
